With the downturn in the economy, the public is generally more cost-conscious and conservative with their spending. As a result, free merchandise and services are more in demand . While there are currently some websites like CRAIGSLIST.COM, SLICKDEALS.COM, FATWALLET.COM and COUPONS.COM that include sections with information on “free” products, content and services, no top-level domain exists that fully and clearly indicates that the content found there is free. Whether the purpose of the registrants is to engage in philanthropy or simply to advertise to get consumers to try their brands, products or service, we believe that the .FREE domain will help facilitate registrants’ goals. With the .FREE domain, we intend to give a platform for companies, not-for-profit organizations and individuals to share free products and services. |
