The .FIT domain will result in a more affordable and meaningful web addresses for fitness studios--resulting in increased visibility for fitness overall on the world wide web. We are confident that the .FIT domain will encourage fitness and health education. The last 20 years has seen a steady increase in obesity rates in the United States and abroad. In a research study administered in 2010, results showed that thirty-six out of 50 states had obesity rates of at least 25%; twelve of these--Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia--had obesity rates of 30% or greater.
