This quality information is the foundation of our global solutions that customers rely on to make critical business decisions. 18.2 What We Do D&B provides solution sets that meet a diverse set of customer needs globally. Customers use D&B Risk Management Solutions to mitigate credit and supplier risk, increase cash flow and drive increased profitability; D&B Sales & Marketing Solutions (tm) to increase revenue from new and existing customers; and D&B Internet Solutions to convert prospects into clients faster by enabling business professionals to research companies, executives and industries. 18.3 Mission The mission and purpose of this TLD is to provide a global, intuitive hierarchy on the Internet for businesses utilizing D&B’s D-U-N-S Number. The Dun and Bradstreet Corporation intends to limit registration of domains for its exclusive use. The Dun and Bradstreet Corporation also intends to govern the domain names registered to limit confusion and enhance user experience. To accomplish these objectives, The Dun and Bradstreet Corporation may be the sole registrant of domains in the TLD. However, due consideration has been made to all aspects of registry operations. 18.4 Selection of DUNS Created in 1962, the Data Universal Numbering System or D-U-N-S Number is D&Bʹs copyrighted, proprietary means of identifying business entities on a location-specific basis. Assigned and maintained solely by D&B, this unique nine-digit identification number has been assigned to over 100 million businesses worldwide. A D-U-N-S Number remains with the company location to which it has been assigned even if it closes or goes out-of-business. The D-U-N-S Number also ʺunlocksʺ a wealth of value-added data associated with that entity, including the business name, physical and mailing addresses, tradestyles (ʺdoing business asʺ), principal names, financial, payment experiences, industry classifications (SICs and NAICS), socio-economic status, government data and more. The D-U-N-S Number also links members of corporate family trees worldwide. The D-U-N-S Number is widely used by both commercial and federal entities and was adopted as the standard business identifier for US federal electronic commerce in October 1994. The D-U-N-S Number was also incorporated into the US Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) in April 1998 as the Federal Governmentʹs contractor identification code for all procurement-related activities. The Dun and Bradstreet Corporation holds numerous trademarks for the DUNS, D-U-N-S, DUNSNUMBER, DUNSRIGHT and other variations in the United States of America, China, India, Canada, the European Community, Germany, Taiwan, Italy and many countries worldwide. |
