The .BEER top-level domain will offer a readily recognizable and identifiable name for content and communications about the world’s most popular alcoholic beverage. Authors, bloggers and others will also be able to effectively communicate their beer-related articles, opinions and pictures to a wider audience. Beer is one of the oldest beverages--dating back to at least 4000 BCE. Today, according to the Brewer’s Association, there are more than 1,700 manufactures of beer in the United States, ranging from large national and international brewing companies to local restaurants, pubs and microbrewers. (Source: http:⁄⁄www.brewersassociation.org) According to Ratebeer.com, there are 71 styles of beer. A global renaissance of small “microbreweries,” many of whom use the Internet extensively, has spawned new consumer interest and created a lifestyle centered around beer. We intend to strengthen the ties amongst people who enjoy beer and encourage communication regarding types of beer, places to consume beer, as well as information about the beverage itself. |
